This is a digital painting I made as an experiment of style, colors, and composition. I wanted to make something ethereal and beautiful and powerful but I wanted it to be simple and straightforward in design. I used hatching and cross-hatching for the shading, something I don’t use often but that I find really beautiful.

I also kept the color palette very limited, only using red, yellow, blue, gray, and black. This is probably my favorite painting I’ve ever made and I’m really proud of how it turned out.

This painting was super fun to make and it actually looked completely different for a while before I reworked it. I focused on the simplicity of the forms, experimented with different brushes in Procreate, and reworked the colors a few times before ending up here. I’m really happy with how it turned out!
